Narrative – Short Story writing.

It was great to be back in front of the class again. Today in literacy we started on our major Literacy focus for the term – Short Story Writing.

To begin we discussed the Walt (We are learning to) and the TIB (This is because.)

We are learning to:
Create a short story, expressing ideas and experiences imaginatively and using effective and appropriate vocabulary.

This is because:
It is important to be able to express yourself effectively using the correct vocabulary and writing conventions. Especially important is the ability to be succinct and precise with what you want to say.

We need to be precise with our language so that others can enjoy our thoughts without getting lost in the waffle.
It is important that as writers we take responsibility for every word used.  We need to make specific choices about the language and structures we include in our writing so that the maximum meaning and effect is gained when reading it.
